Appiah, thus, gives the sketch of workable cosmopolitanism.If we want to do something about it and about the conflicts and divisiveness rampant in all areas of human activities, we are in dire need to establish a new vision for humanity that is consonant with the demand of time. In most versions of cosmopolitanism, the universal community of world citizens functions as a positive ideal to be cultivated, but a few versions exist in which it serves primarily as a ground for denying the existence of special obligations to local forms of political organizations. Cosmopolitanism: Ethics in a World of Strangers is a philosophical text by Princeton professor Kwame Anthony Appiah. Published in 2006, the book details ideas about ethics that Appiah developed over years writing journal articles and giving lectures. Appiah was raised in Ghana but educated at Cambridge.

Appiah’s concerns about cosmopolitanism raises a great argument about the world in which all types of humans live in and more so when the ideas of cultural revolutions are taken into question. My definition of cosmopolitanism is a global community which all humans are connected together and live among one another in an ethical fashion and eliminating any prejudices or biases. I then consider promising points in Appiah's work, in which he can be seen as helping to construct an anti‐Eurocentric form of cosmopolitanism, as well as problematic points, in which he shows insufficient regard for the importance of cultural resistance.
