It estimates a distribution of parameters and uses Poisson process: Law of small numbers, counting processes, event distance, non-homogeneous processes, diluting and super positioning, processes on general spaces. Markov processes: transition intensities, time dynamic, existence and uniqueness of stationary distribution, and calculation thereof, birth-death processes, absorption times. Markov Basics Constructing the Markov Process We may construct a Markov process as a stochastic process having the properties that each time it enters a state i: 1.The amount of time HT i the process spends in state i before making a transition into a di˙erent state is exponentially distributed with rate, say α i. Exist many types of processes are Markov process, with many di erent types of probability distributions for, e.g., S t+1 condi-tional on S t. \Markov processes" should thus be viewed as a wide class of stochastic processes, with one particular common characteris-tic, the Markov property.

We adopt a Bayesian approach and apply Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) methods for estimating the parameters and the Markov process. This thesis consists of four papers that broadly concerns two dierent topics. The rsttopic is so-called barycentric Markov processes. By a barycentric Markov process wemean a process that consists of a point/particle system evolving in (discrete) time, whose evolution depends in some way on the mean value of the current points in thesystem. Now for some formal definitions: Definition 1. A stochastic process is a sequence of events in which the outcome at any stage depends on some probability.
We will further assume that the Markov process for all i;j in Xfulfills Pr(X(s +t) = j jX(s) = i) = Pr(X(t) = j jX(0) = i) for all s;t 0 which says that the probability of a transition from state i …
A Markov process {X t} is a stochastic process with the property that, given the value of X t, the values of X s for s > t are not influenced by the values of X u for u < t. In words, the probability of any particular future behavior of the process, when its current state is known exactly, is not altered by additional knowledge concerning its past behavior. The Markov process does not drift toward infinity; Application.

Consider again a switch that has two states and is on at the beginning of the experiment. We again throw a dice every minute.
